Fionna Stolzenburg is the Franchisee at St Brides Major, and is supported by a superb team of staff.
“My name is Fionna and I own Simply Out of School St Brides Major, Maes Yr Haul and Pencoed in Bridgend. Originally a fully qualified and practicing Solicitor in February 2014 I decided to have a complete change of career in order to spend more time with my two young children and began training as a childminder with a view to opening an after school club at Maes Yr Haul school in Bridgend.
Whilst training I was fortunate to be offered given the opportunity to run the club under the ‘Simply Out of School ‘banner with all the knowledge and experience that the franshisor has of running such clubs.
Just 5 months after opening Maes Yr Haul I had the chance to take over the club at St Brides a club that had been running for over 12 years.
I have enjoyed working with the children. It’s a privilege to watch them grow and develop. It’s a great experience and extremely rewarding and I look forward to many more years of caring and working with children and their families.
It’s my priority to build good relationships with the children, their families and staff at all levels including school staff members.
I have gained qualifications which includes Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Child Protection and Pediatric Basic Life Support as well as gaining the knowledge of the CSSIW regulations. I am studying towards my Level 3 in Childrens Care Learning and Development and at least one staff member on site is always qualified to Level 3 in either the CCLD or Playwork.
Professional development is very important and as such both myself and my staff have also carried out a number of additional short childcare courses.”
The club operates an equal opportunities policy, along with all other policies and procedures required to comply with the Care Inspectorate Wales (C.I.W.) guidelines. We are also members of Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs, who offer ongoing training for all staff members, advice and support in all aspects of the Club and contacts with all relevant associated organisations.
The club has full Public Liability and Employers Liability Insurance. The appropriate ratio of staff have relevant Childcare qualifications, including level 2 or 3 Diploma in Playwork, First Aid, Child Protection and Food Hygiene.
